This is a version of a workshop that I learned and then taught in Hawaii, and have taught in Florida and in Oregon for a Master Gardener group.  These are heirloom wreaths, made from dried materials that look the same year after year. Nature printing is the technique of inking a piece of nature- leaf, flowers, feathers or shells, and pressing it onto paper or cloth to create an image that reproduces in exacting detail the features, veins, shapes and design of the object. Nature Printing Seaweeds and Coral

There is a huge collection of  pressed seaweeds of the Oregon Coast in my studio, as well as a collection of fan corals from the Florida keys.  All of these print beautifully, and prints by themselves are works of art.  We'll be printing with oil based inks onto thin Asian papers.  This is a wonderful opportunity to add seaweeds to existing fish prints, so if you have unfinished gyotaku at home,  feel free to bring them and to match them…
